How can I find a Thomas Thompson in Scotland about 1700?
You must have more information about him or his descendants. The general rule is to start with what you know, and work backwards. If, for example, what you know about Thomas Thompson is only that his is the name given to a son who immigrated to the United States, you will try to unearth every bit of information you can about the son,as well as apparent relatives or associates of the son. Ideally you will find from where in Scotland the family immigrant came.
